Bibliographic Descriptions

Full bibliographic details are displayed when you click the link Full Citation found in the results list or when an electronic table of contents or a digitized work is displayed.

 

A bibliographic description can contain the following information:

 

Author

Name and life dates of the (first mentioned) author, editor or translator in the case of translated works

Title

Title of the digitized work or the whole work in the case of multivolume works

Subtitle

Subtitle of the digitized work

Volumes

Number of volumes

Edition

Information on the edition, e.g.: “Zweyte verbesserte Auflage”

Place(s) of Publication

Place(s) in which a work was published

Publisher(s)

Details of the publisher as given in the work

Publication Year(s)

Period of time or year of publication of the original (single volume works or the complete work, in the case of multivolume works)

Other Authors

Names and where given, life dates and functions of other authors involved in the work

Collation

Pagination and notes on the quality of the original (single volume works)

Note(s)

Notes on work originally published anonymously or under a pseudonym

Content Note/Topical Term

Information on the thematic context (Wertherliteratur; Fragmentestreit), or hidden bibliographies and accompanying works

Description

Categorizing of collected works and periodicals (Anthologie, Literarische Wochenschrift, Theater-Journal etc.)

Genre(s)

Genre terms applying to single volume works or the complete work, in the case of multivolume works


Volume

Number of the volume selected (for multivolume works)

Volume Title

Title of the volume

Publication Year

The volume’s publication year

Collation

Pagination and notes on the quality of the original

Genre [Vol.]

Genre terms applying to the individual volume


Document ID

The volume’s specific identification number

Source Library

Library from which the scanned work originated

Related Publications

In the case of multivolume works links to the bibliographic information of all further volumes

 

The author names situated beneath bibliographic descriptions operate as links to the respective bio-bibliographic articles. The articles will open in separate windows.

The short entry from the search results is displayed above a bibliographic description. It allows you to call up the title page of the Digitized Work by clicking the linked work or volume title, or by clicking the link Electronic Table of Contents to access the table of contents of the selected work.

 

 

Printing and E-mailing Bibliographic Descriptions

Further use can be made of bibliographic descriptions with the E-mail and Print functions. The Download function cannot be used for bibliographic descriptions. For details please see the chapter Managing Information.
