Bio-bibliographic Articles

Bio-bibliographic articles on the authors can be viewed. They originate from Deutsches Literatur-Lexikon (German Encyclopedia of Literature) or Deutsche Biographische Enzyklopädie (Dictionary of German Biography), or were written especially for the database.

You can access the biographical articles via the bibliographic descriptions: linked names are given beneath the bibliographic description of a work. The articles open in a new browser window.

Each author has been allotted a specific identification number, the PND ID. This ID originates from the Name Authority File of Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (German National Library).

The PND ID and the author name from the authority file are given at the beginning of the article.

To find works by the relevant author, the database 18th Century German Literature Online offers the option of searching directly for the PND ID using the Advanced Search. The author name and the name variations from the PND are listed in the index PND Names.

Source Citation
Information on the source of the article is displayed below the biographical article. It contains information on the database and the publisher, the date and a specific citable URL for the article. Beneath this is bibliographic information on the source in which the article was originally published.

Printing of Bio-bibliographic Articles

Since the bio-bibliographic articles are opened in a separate browser window, they cannot be utilized further by using the database functions Print or E-mail. However, the article can be printed using your browser’s print function.
